his was the pioneering Government Polytechnic for women in south Orissa, established under World Bank assisted project during the year 1995, situated at Berhampur by the side of Gopalpur-Raipur National Highway 4 Km away from Railway Station. During the year 2005, it is converted to Coeducation.
The Govt. Polytechnic Berhampur was established in the year 1995, in the name and style of Women's Polytechnic under World Bank assisted project.It is located in Berhampur, the "SILK CITY OF ODISHA", beside the NH- Gopalpur-on-sea to Raipur in a beautiful tranquil atmosphere. During the year 2005 the Instution is converted to a Coeducation Institute and renamed as "Govt. Polytechnic."
The Institute was established to educate the youth of the state to make them technically skilled and highly employable to women especially in the women oriented areas like Hospitality, Food Processing, & Computer Science Sector. In view of this, three Diploma Branches via. HM&CT(Hotel Management and Catering Technology), FT(Food Technology), CSE(Computer Science and Engineering) were introduced and continuing till date.
Besides this a good number of short term courses are also conducted for the benefit of youth who are less previledged and school dropouts and housewives. By this so many beneificiaries have become employed or self-employed or wage-employed.
